Welcome to the world of bennettites!

This webpage was set up mainly to present a comprehensive reference for bennettites. Well, it turned out that there is not enought time at the moment for me to fill and maintain these pages. So the main aim is postponed for the moment. The main contents of these pages is consequently dedicated temporarily only to my primary work and scientific research. You'll find my publications as well as the aims of my research, a short CV, contact and reprint request possibilities. Over time, www.bennettital.es will grow to a comprehensive reference work about Bennettitales. The aim is to compile as much information as possible about this enigmatic group of gymnosperms.

What is a bennettite?

The Bennettitales are an extinct lineage of seed plants with cycad-like foliage and flower-like reproductive organs extending from the Late Triassic to the Late Cretaceous. The group has received considerable attention as possible sister to angiosperms and is in some phylogenetic analyses placed with Gnetales and angiosperms in the so called anthophyte clade. The anthophyte concept is, however, not universally accepted and there is currently no consensus regarding interrelationships among the various groups of extant and extinct seed plants.

I apologise that there's not that much content at the moment. But I keep working. Welcome back from time to time and watch the progress!
